THE DALLES, Oregon - It's hard to keep a secret when it is a computing center as big as two football fields, with twin cooling plants protruding four stories into the sky.

Officials in The Dalles, including the city attorney and the city manager, said they could not comment on the project because they signed confidentiality agreements with Google last year

Google Earth, the satellite mapping service, so far shows the 30-acre, or 12-hectare, parcel here quite undeveloped

Put in The Dalles for the same reason aluminum smelters go there -- we got the cheap electricity (well, at least we do when Enron isn't scamming California and forcing us to sell our juice to them).
