True; but there are a lot of non-financial uses for a spreadsheet and often would be a benefit to being able to easily share data with others without having to worry about offline software versions (esp. as MS Office dies, people aren't always going to have it even at work anymore).
That is what XML and HTML is for. Present and Manage your information for the web and portability.
Voting for google does nothing to protect the freedom or usefullness of information. I'd still have to use a GOOGLE capable browser, probably have a google account and see GOOGLE ads.
I'd rather pay 129.00 for excell and use the features of excell in everything from collaboration, management, versioning, reporting then switch to a web enabled light weight worksheet.
If you want to share data, share data.. don't just vote on the flavor of the day to present it or
play favorism on it.
If office dies something is going to replace it. Going back in time to something i could do on my 8088 cheaper and easier with less hassles (and no ads) isn't my idea of a feature or bonus :)
