Google and Dell Partner on New PC Software Package

Google will incorporate its desktop software which integrates a number of personal computing applications, a Google tool bar and a co-branded Internet homepage on Dell computers...A large-scale agreement with the world's largest PC maker would be a major inroad for Google.

The timing of this 'announcement' seems to me like it was designed to take some of the news cycle away from the big Yahoo-eBay partnership [webmasterworld.com].

But it is not very clear what other software would be installed. I hope Dell allow you to choose whether to have such items installed or not. I swear by Dell laptops, but hope they will give us a choice.

And what exactly is a co-branded internet home page.

Thanks Tedster. Nice looking page but I wonder if I would ever use it. I guess that the agreement would mean Dell pc's would come with that page as the default home page.
