Google is considering taking a five per cent stake in a major Chinese internet company, a Chinese newspaper claimed today, citing unamed sources.

It would be good to see G focus on google.com only and not worry about being in every other country.

If G's perceived as good from its US base, traffic will (or want to) flock there from everywhere and Government's will have to change their tune because the people want to use Google, instead of Google coming across as wanting to change Government's thinking by physically entering their country.

When I read about companies expanding, it reminds me of US invasions.

These days, companies are what countries used to be, and politicians are their middle management. You don't salute a flag anymore, you wear a logo. If you don't agree with a policy, forget voting. You quit buying their goods.
