Tried it last night, worked really well.
However I wonder how Multimap, 118 118, Streetmap and others will feel about this?

How much does it cost?
Google is not charging users to send a query or receive results. However, the rates that your mobile operator charges for sending and receiving a text message still apply. Also note that your operator may charge you a non-standard rate specifically applied to the use of short code services which may not be covered in your current data services plan, such as free or discounted text bundles. The additional charges from your operator may appear on your bill. Please check the data plan from your operator for more information.

A-Ha. Now, this is technically true - Google is not charging the users (the mobile operator does), BUT the mobile operator typically shares the revenue of "non-standard rates" with the content provider (i.e. Google). That makes it possible to send the SMS back to the users. I smell a new revenue stream for Google here. Tom, would you mind checking the rates for the GOOGL shortcode with your mobile operator? That would be great to know.
