Microsoft new VISTA OS and next suite of office Applications with search fully integrated and not needing to go to Google or MSN for search or even a browser etc.
Microsoft with new adsense look alike
Microsoft with a free spy ware product
Microsoft with new suite of anti virus
Microsoft with new generation of Games consoles much more Internet friendly
And what has Google available to fight with
Google dominant in Search Engine Marketplace
Google does big push for firefox including paying for referrals
Google ties up closer to SUN ( Who are still one of the preferred UNIX boxes of choice by large corporates
Google creates GMAIL free with no limits
Google now announces spy ware tie up with SUN
and umpteen other products most lacking any true structure but in place
These are all related to MSN VISTA and Internet / search integration also some protection if Microsoft was to declare open warfare by defining Google adds as spy ware etc. in the new Vista OS , many forget how much damage Microsoft could inflict on Google in weeks rather than months with a flick of the switch which defined all G adds as spy ware ( as others have said all G products are spy ware with cookies set for collecting personal data )
Who believes if Microsoft was to define G adds as spy ware that Google could survive long enough to fight the cases through the courts and if they did would Google win?
No advertisers and publishers leaving G in droves
Googles biggest problem is that the largest number of Firefox users are those who are IT and Internet aware often those same people that G has alienated over the years by taking a hard line on webmasters who push the rules to the limits
Over the last few years I have seen the percentage of webmasters who think G is the best thing since sliced bread been the same people who are now starting to distrust Googles motivation in many areas
Do I believe Microsoft could do this
Yes from earlier and current Microsoft practices they may very well do something if they feel their backs are against the wall
just my own very jaundiced view of what could happen
Microsoft have always played to win and do not pretend to Do No Evil they have and will always play to win

I actually do believe that there will be some serious stuff hitting the fan once Vista gets stabilized and mainstream. Do I think that Google knows this? Of course. Do I think they can barracade themselves from the onslaught? It's going to be tough, but I have a feeling Google has something cooking that they are going to use. If they don't, I think there's going to be some sweating going down at the 'Plex.
Remember, Microsoft still owns whatever % of the OS market. This is a whole different angle that they can attack Google, and in a lot of cases, it's unstoppable.
I don't think they would ever do something like "Google Ads are now spyware", but it still should scare Google knowing they *could* do it.
