A herder brings about 200 goats and they spend roughly a week with us at Google, eating the grass and fertilizing at the same time.

If the time stamp of the article was exactly 1 month earlier, I would have assumed it was another April Fool's story from the Plex.

However, since it appears to be serious (they DID say they weren't "kidding"), I just want to know if the goats obey "nofollow" rules.

Everything comes around again eventually: Back in the '70s, there was a German service that mowed lawns with sheep. I remember seeing a photo of a skyscraper in Duesseldorf with sheep grazing out front.

the only issue is that goats may not do much of a good job giving the fields an even cut; the land will be left riddled with bald patches.

Google is talking about fields, not lawns, so uneven mowing and bald patches may not be a problem.

Also, I don't know what kinds of grasses are on Google's fields, but from the photo (and from what I remember from living in Northern California as a kid), I'd assume that those goats at Google aren't feeding on Kentucky Bluegrass--and I hope they don't encounter any rattlesnakes!

unless they give out cricket bats on which employees could spend smoke breaks. bumpy pitches don't allow for smooth bowling.

Or croquet, for that matter. But they do add excitement to Paintball and Capture the Flag.
