Only a few dozen of the larger cities are covered:

[googleblog.blogspot.com...]

you can now see up-to-date traffic conditions to help you plan your schedule and route. If you're in San Francisco, New York , Chicago, Dallas, or any of the other cities we now include, just click on the traffic button to show current traffic speeds directly on the map. If your route shows red, you're looking at a stop-and-go commute; yellow, you could be a little late for dinner; green, you've got smooth sailing.

This is great.

I've used Yahoo's Traffic a couple times before. It's got (and has had) a little more functionality: [maps.yahoo.com...]

I think I like Google's version better though, usually do.

Interesting addition, but I hope future enhancements will show more information than just greed/red/orange/gray.

I would like to also at least see a key of what the colors mean. Also another nice feature would be to see how often they are updated or from what sources they are updated.

i've been using the google maps traffic data feature on my treo for a few weeks now - very handy and usable.
