Overture said that it has extended its search distribution relationship with Microsoft in the US and UK through to June 2005....the companies have entered into a paid placement search agreement to provide Overture search results to US and UK users of MSN Search...
Christopher Payne, vice-president of MSN at Microsoft, said: "...We are pleased to continue this mutually beneficial relationship in the US and UK."
In light of Paul Ryan's departure, and MSN Search being delayed until 2005 (according to Steve Ballmer), is MSN search getting bogged down?
Or will Microsoft thrill us in 2005 with a technology that will make Google look "pathetic?"
Or perhaps it says nothing if the agreement doesn't guarantee minimum revenue.
When they do come up, I wonder what affect that will have on PPC. Hopefully it will mean:
- lower initial PPC costs
- more tools and techniques to drive greater ROI (rather than just clicks) for the Advertisers.

"Microsoft Commits to Overture Until 2005"
Dated: October 17, 2003!
Can't it be that MSN will use Overture for PPC and fill up the results with it's own free listings?
If I am not mistaken there are many press releases out there that they say they will launch search but that a good PPC search will take longer. Therefore it is not strange at all that they will move away in stages and first remove the inktomi results that show below the Overture ones.
just my 2 cents.
