MSN Local Search Here?

"sea.msn.search.com" is now one of my biggest traffic sources

Within the last several days, I've notices "sea.msn.search.com" in my logs. It actually has become one of my biggest traffic sources. Being in Portland, my guess is that "sea" stands for Seattle and checking the SERPS at "sea.msn.search.com", my rankings are noticeably higher than the "normal" MSN search.

Anyone else notice something similar?

I got a couple of hits through them today.

It does not appear to be localized to me. I trimmed the URL back and visited the [sea.search.msn.com...] site. When you click on some of the other informational links you are taken to the standard msn.com search facility.

Maybe msndude will come along and provide some valid input.

I've had a couple sea.msn.search.com referrals and I traced it back to a search result page that included thumbnail screenshots of the different search result pages. Perhaps that was only what those user's preferences were set to?

Bump.

Has anyone figured out what sea.search.msn.com is? I still get quite a few referrals.

When you mistype any URL in the IE address bar, MSN searches via sea.search.msn.com

e.g. try typing hootmail.com in your IE address bar, it will redirect to [sea.search.msn.com...]

The page gives recommendations for similar sites to visit,

Did you intend to go to one of these similar Web addresses?
www.hotmail.com
--------------------------------------------------------
You can also visit one of these related Web sites.
MSN Hotmail

You could be getting traffic from sea.search.msn.com if your site is featured in these recommendations.

Maybe related maybe not? In the past few days referrals from msn and sea.msn have shot up above yahoo and google for one of my sites. Now receiving over 300 a day from msn?
