The real news is buried way at the bottom of the original Reuters story, but snipped out by news.com, whose reporter must not have recognized the significance. Not the first time.

The Reuters piece has a bit at the end mentioning that MSN hired away Paul Ryan, CTO of Overture, who will presumably build an Overture style PPC.

MSN isn't really splitting in two, so much as having two divisions to focus on different parts of the business.
