Hi There,

I have a problem. I have recently upgraded my f-secure internet security and now localhost, my testing server, seems to be getting blocked. I cannot access it at all.

I probably need to open some ports or something, but I have been into f-secure and in application control, enabled everything under Apache. I have also created a rule to enable the IP 127.0.0.1 in the firewall, but I still cannot connect.

I had also wondered if it might be something to do with my router, which I had to reset last week. However my other computer doesn't get blocked in this way, and I still cannot connect if I disconnect the PC from the router.

I have F-secure enabled, and windows firewall disabled but clearly something is blocking apache. Can someone explain clearly what needs to be set so that I can access localhost?

Many thanks.

F-Secure's FAQ or support might be a better place to start, but generally, you'll need to allow incoming HTTP requests on port 80 to the server's LAN IP address, and the 127.0.0.1, and "localhost" loopback addresses.

Thanks for your reply. I have looked through the F-secure FAQ but it doesn't mention apache or any form of testing servers. The software is not great to configure either. I have been into application control and set allow application and port but still no joy.

What worries me further is that I'm not convinced it is due to F-secure. I have tried it which f-secure unloaded and allowing all network traffic and also with windows firewall disabled, it still won't work. Am I right in thinking this should be a good test as to what it blocking it?

If so then could it be something with my router? I have disconnected from the router and tried it: Still blocked.

What is left to check? Is it a setting on my PC? If so what could it be? I have re-installed Apache previously but it still gets blocked. I'm scratching my head with this now! Can someone please advise.

Incidentally, I'm not sure if this is relevant but my laptop is on the same network and has no problem with its apache server. It never gets blocked. It is running windows XP Home with Norton Internet Security.
