Hi All,

I've been a user of Apache for quite a few years now and I'm quite sure that my trouble i'm suddenly having today is probably a windows issue and not apache but I was hoping someone might have seen this error message and understand whats causing it.

basically when trying to start apache, it doesnt start but outputs a lot of (OS 11001) no such host messages.
In addition at the end of the no such host statements are two extra lines;

no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

I can confirm the config is ok, it hasnt been touched in months and has until now been working 100%. So I'm quite confused...

Any help appreciated.. Thanks

What the Hell!?

Well for the benefit of others possibly, I discovered there is actually another program listening to port 80 on my machine.. And of all things its Skype!

Wow. That's a surprise...

Why would Skype need to listen on port 80?

I'd be especially interested to know if it was simply listening on all ports, or if you can configure it to listen to some other port.

If you find out anything more about Skype, please let us know.

And welcome to WebmasterWorld!
