Hey all,

I received the 'IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email. This is cPanel stats runner on...' & '....load average: 2.59, 1.51, 1.16...' email this morning. For some Top Level processes, I see upto 60.7 for CPU Usage.

After research i edited /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and set extracpus=2 (formerly 0).

--------------- my server info --------------
Processor Information
Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #1 speed: 3012.274 MHz
Processor #1 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #2 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #2 Name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #2 speed: 3012.274 MHz
Processor #2 cache size: 2048 KB

Memory InformationMemory: 1024964k/1040064k available (2058k kernel code, 14136k reserved, 772k data, 232k init, 122560k highmem)
---------------------------------------

From what I've read, it seems my server should have no problem with performance, it just is having problems accessing/writing to log files (my guess is b/c they are so large - i.e. taking up system memory while other sites running are requiring it, thus some sites would use the hard disk for ram purposes when the stats program is running (i may be wrong with this last notion))

Now, I dont neccessarily need to run a stats program (which i have read is the root cause of this), so i was wondering how to disable awstats globally on all account from WHM.?

Also, any advice on this in addition to 'how do i disable awstats globally from WHM cPanel?' would be appreciated - as always.

Thanks in advance!

If your WebHost Manager (WHM) panel looks like mine, then try the following:

  • Look in "Server Configuration".
  • Choose "Statistics Software Configuration".
  • Scroll down to "Statistics Processing Configuration Summary".
  • Click on "Configure Statistic Process Time Schedule".
  • Tick the boxes to denote the times during which stats should not be run.
  • Click "Save", and exit.

The above helped me a lot, plus I disabled AWStats and Webalizer, since I don't use them anyway.

Hope that helps.

Eliz.

Sorry; I should have thought to include that in my last post. I'm an idiot. <wink>

Here's how I did it:

  • Open WHM and find the "Server Configuration" listing.
  • Click on "Tweak Settings".
  • Scroll down to "Stats Programs"; untick the boxes.
  • Scroll down to the bottom; click "Save", and exit.

That should do 'er!
