I think this is an Apache problem.

I have just switched to a new webserver, and want to get everything going before setting up DNS and having the domain name pointing to the new server.

I could get a dummy domain account and wait 24-48 hours for the thing to propagate, but im impaitent.

I would like to access my new website by IP address, and its not letting me. The firewall settings are good. Is this an Apache issue?

If you are on a shared server and don't have a dedicated IP you will need to set the site in your host file. It does not take 24 to 48 hours to get a site up any longer. I put up 30 new sites the other day and they were available to the whole world in ten minutes. They upgraded the process a while back.

think about it ..if you are typing the IP address in your machine ..which then talks to your ISP something somewhere has to handle the request ..

DNS?

OT ..ogletree ..how many pages on each site ..just to frighten folks ;)
