how do i update files using ftp on apache

Hi. I'm newbiedummy and i try to make a simple update to a site like www.mysite.com located on apache. How do I update the files using ftp. I cannot see any html-files when connecting to site. I've made some updates on iis server but seem like its different.

I've heard of certain files being "hidden", but are you saying that, when you log into your site with your FTP program, you can't see any of your files?

What FTP program are you using? Can you see anything when you log in?

I can see some bash_ files etc. I tried with explorer and dreamweaver.

So you can't see any of the HTML or graphics files that you've uploaded? No "public_html" folder?

Have you tried re-uploading everything?
