apache and asp.net

I have apache 2.0.53 installed and running on XP pro - think everythings uptodate - I let ms update do all the work and always install the security and critical stuff.

Have used mysql and php also to learn some neat things.

I now want to learn about web and .net and have .net 2003 installed.

Is asp.net 'runnable' with apache? Microsoft asp.net site says iis and another one I can't remember. I have installed .net framework 1.1 but when I try to open a new c# web project it tells me I'm running asp.net 1.0. Yes I have rebooted since the 1.1 install.
