We've experienced a few server side apache hangs over the last couple of months.

Characteristics:
-- CPU utilization goes to near zero

-- Network activity shrinks to near zero, but connectivity is fine

-- Other applications on the server continue to work fine

-- No error messages in the log files

-- Apache access logs and error logs have nothing interesting, (but a segment of time when nothing is added)

I am trying to think of what could cause Apache to hang and I am running short. Can you list some possible points that would cause Apache to hang?

(Again, note that CPU resources are plentiful, network is under low utilization, No evidence of filesystem IO problems).

Thanks for anything you can think of.

Is there another forum out there that would be more appropriate for questions such as above? If you know of one, please let me know. I am a UNIX guy, and I am not sure where to go with Apache questions. Thanks.
