1045 but not with localhost

I can connect to MySQL using localhost and everything is fine. I want to be able to connect to MySQL from another computer within the same network. When I try to accomplish this using the IP Address of the MySQL server, I get error 1045

"access denied for user"

means the user/pass are wrong or that user doesn't have the proper permissions
