I hope someone in here can help me! I have been muddling with this problem for ages...
I am running Apache 1.3.33 on Windows XP Pro + SP2.
I have set up a server on my home computer to run an oscommerce shop. The server is all working fine but I need to change one folder to have setting equivalent to chmod 777. I have no idea how to do this, and have tried to follow advice from several forums and websites, but I can't make it work. I don't even know if the folder I need to change is already set up correctly. I don't have any sort of admin panel for apache.
Basically I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some really simple instructions on how to check and change file permissions. And exactly what details I should enter.
I apologise if this post doesn't make much sense, I am new to all this and don't understand the technical aspects very well.
Many Thanks,

The real reason I'm replying to your post is to prompt you to reconsider running a shop from your home computer. You're heading for a world or worry and irritation (this is just the start) that for a paltry few bucks a month can all be taken care of by people who actually know what they're doing.
Running an online shop, getting traffic, dealing with customers etc will keep you busy enough without having to bother with the minutiae of day-to-day server administration and security. For your own peace of mind, put your server needs in the hands of the professionals.
