config to serve up just images?

Hey All,

We just split our apache2 to have one just serving images. Are there any tweaks we can make for performance and are there any tweaks to consider for the apache2 that is serving our dynamic pages minus images?

ps, we do not have access to another IP address but we have been advised when we can get another to used thttpd for serving images instead of apache. Has anyone has experience with it vs apache for serving just images?

Optimization wise, the main benefits will be optained through at compilation time - exclude all modules that you will not need. This will make the httpd processes small and easy on memory.

Config wise - just remove everything that's not essential. the default httpd.conf has a lot of language stuff and stuff for userdirs - remove everything you don't need.
