I'm completely new to Linux (just installed it yesterday) so please bear with me. :)

I just installed Mandrakelinux 10.1/Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer 2.0.50. How do I configure Apache for hosting a website such as www.sitename.homeip.net? I've been Googling all afternoon and can't seem to figure anything out. All of the tutorials I found show files in locations I don't even have and aren't written for idiots, er I mean novices like myself. BTW...when I type [localhost...] I get the "congratulations page", so I know Apache is working.

the congratulations page means its done and working (assuming you dont have a router or something blocking it from the internet)

just set www.sitename.homeip.net to your IP Address and it will start working - then you just put your files in the apache root directory (not sure where it is on a default mandrake install, but try looking around in /var or perhaps the apache install directory)

There is a shortcut which would be to drop in a control panel like Plesk which sets up everything nice and pretty, assuming you can tolerate Plesk.

After hours and hours of messing around with it, I finally got it working. Turns out I just had a couple of paths wrong.
