Excuse me if this is the wrong forum but:

I have aproblem with some of my sites. In short the www.site.com version of the site no longer resolves, site.com works ok. I can neither ping the www version. Its as if its not there.

Now this is where it get strange. I use NTL as a service provider and so does a friend living locally, we both have the same problem. So I tried the local library and access is ok from there. It is also ok if I use a web proxy.

Any ideas what has gone wrong. If anyone can help <snip>

I have contacted NTL and they claim there is no problem there.
I have a site on another server and that works ok.

[Your site] works here. It could be a DNS caching issue with your ISP or on your computer.

Definitely a DNS problem between your machine and the authoritative DNS server (where your zone file is loaded). Contact your ISP, and ask them to contact the admins of the DNS servers upstream from their DNS servers if no problem is found on their servers (DNS is a distributed, hierarchical system).

If you get no help, it may just take waiting until the next DNS update, at which time, your domain's DNS will get updated and it will then 'magically' start working again.

To set your mind at ease, try accessing your server using its IP address (if you have a unique IP address for it). If that works, then it's a DNS problem only.
