Virtual Hosting Help!

Control panel is Webmin and I know nothing about it...

I recently purchased a virtual hosting account, since I like the idea of a dedicated IP, more bandwidth, and space. The problem now, is that I have too much freedom, the control panel is "Webmin", (which was not stated in the advertisement) and I do not know anything about server maintainance and installation (Since I never did it before). My first question is, is there any way to get a virtual or dedicated plan, without knowing anything about Unix? I do not want to spend so much time trying to configure things all time time. Even if I did know how to do it, it still is inconvenient and wastes time. I am used to CPanel, which was included with my shared hosting. Now that I spent more money, I feel that I am at a loss now without CPanel, or an easy way to do things with my account.

Maybe I am not giving Webmin a chance. Does anyone know anything about Webmin? If I can figure out how to install things, I will relax a bit more. Can anyone help me out with how to install Frontpage Extensions on Webmin? I downloaded the necessary files already, I just am not sure where to install it, or how.

I am experiencing a similar issue. I have learned to use a Putty client and secure shell in. It is much easier to use command language for this than webmin. I found webmin useful for finding files and directories as my command language is lacking. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I obviously do not know enough about Unix to be using Webmin. I am going to cancel my account and as hard as this may be, I am going to purchase a $50/month plan that uses CPanel, with 200 gigs of bandwidth, 10 gigs of space. I also am finding out that my current provider will not help me with any of my issues. They are a joke and know nothing about Webmin apparently. Maybe thats why they do not offer help with it? It is an unmanaged plan, which they did not state when I purchased this account and they ignore their customers questions regarding server management. They couldn't even help me install Frontpage Extensions, because it is not their problem they say. I would rather pay $50/Month for CPanel, more resources, real support, and better reliability.

Good grief it sounds exactly like the problem I'm having. I have a bit of experience so I am able to muddle through. When I ask? I get the same reply. Only reason we're staying is it's my son's site and he knows less than me but wants the options for his company, so guess what good ole dad will muddle thru, at least I have till October. Good luck.
