I need help using Apache. I have html file from a website I have hosted on another site, but I want to set up my own server. How do I import existing html files to Apache to use on my server?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, SRStewart.

First step would be to get yourself a decent FTP client, FileZilla perhaps, and connect to the old server to get your documents.

I already have the files I need for the website. I just need to publish them on my own webserver using Apache. I downloaded AppServ, and have it installed, but haven't configured anything yet.

I'm not familiar with AppServ, but your next step is to configure the server including the DocumentRoot [httpd.apache.org] for your site and move your files into that directory.

I look at the coding in the HTML and found the hosting companies crap embedded in the pages as I created them using their software. I will have to make the pages from scratch and come back and try again when I have them completed. Thanks for your time and I will be back to ask more questions once my pages are ready!
