How to measure the CPU burden for mod_rewrite

I would like to compare the time of different aproaches for RewriteRules.

When calling the cgi script directly:
~# time script
then the time consumption of Rewrite is not in the scope.

How may I call in comand line a "http://.."?
How may I supress the DNS resolving time?

You can avoid DNS resolve time by a call to an IP but making the "http://.." call is the challenge. Would a simple Perl script using libwww functions work? I suspect it might. Any one have any ideas on this?
