Okay, basically, when it comes to this, I am an idiot. I really need someone to explain this to me like they would a second grader, and be VERY specific with details please. Here's my dilemma:

I installed Apache2 and I have Windows XP. I have a free geocities website in which I use an html code that allows me to paste a music code. I use a music code making site to transform a music file that I uploaded/stored locally on the internet into that music code. Here's the problem: I cannot afford to pay a single cent, and everything I do must be free.

I have the music files downloaded from a music downloading program, and I use a free tripod site to store the files (since I need a location to make into music files). However, I can only store four files at a time, and I need my own web server or something to allow an infinite amount of music files stored locally.

Once I have a place to store the files, I can make a music code out of them, then paste those music codes onto my geocities website. Apache2 will not work without the correct DocumentRoot and Directory, but I need to know how to be able to get my already downloaded music files, under that category. What do I save them to? And please, be very specific and leave nothing out if you can, I am not skilled at this at all and without simple instructions, I cannot do this because I get confused fast.

So my question is, "Can you please tell me what to do, using Apache2, to store an unlimited amount of music files?" Once the location is made, I can make music codes out of them, so don't worry about that, I can take the rest from there. What should I save the files to, how can I make them program files (since Apache only runs on Program Files), etc.

Thank you so much and I'm happy to see that people will go out of their way to help others, I really appreciate helping me. Remember though, please explain it as if you are explaining it to a child. I need it as simple as possible. If you could, make it a list of steps so its easier for me to follow. Thank you a thousand times to whomever helps me! You are my savior!

Once you get beyond 2nd grade level, another thing you might consider is to set up Apache web server at home, especially if you have a DSL connection. Normally, to run a web server you need a domain name and a static IP address, which both cost money, but you can use free services to do it without either one (example, [no-ip.com)....] When you run your own server you have complete control over everything, plus it's a good learning experience, and if you use Apache it costs nothing.
