I just setup my Apache server and the Documentroot is set as the htdoc. I am kind of concerend about this as there seems to be many other files including dll files in there. Would there be a problem for me to either create another folder and change the documentroot in the config.ini or just create a folder in the htdoc folder for my test bed. With changing the documentroot and using an empty folder I am concerned the Root folder may need certain files .dll and other files in it to have it function correct

You should be able to change DocumentRoot with no problems -- DocumentRoot is meant to store "Web documents" -- the stuff you want accessible via HTTP from the Web. I presume that you don't want visitors running DLLs...(!)
