ssh delete command?

how do i do this...

How do i delete all JPG files under a DIR and all recursive SUBDIR's in SSH?

Ive tried

rm -r *.jpg

but it dosnt work!?

all i get back is:
cannot lstat '*.jpg'

Anyone help me?
