Setting up Apache 2

Hey guys!

I recently had to re-install Windows XP, and that means re-installing Apache Webserver. I got Apache 1, but as you all know, it is a console application, and I'd rather have the Win32 program that runs in the background by default. I installed Apache 2, and whenver it tries to run, it gives me an error about there being something on port 80 already. However, I made sure that Apache 1 was off, and there should not be anything else that can run on port 80 on my computer. It then says there's some sort of error locating some log files.

So I guess my question is, what could the cause of this error be? Could it be that I have to completely get rid of Apache 1 and THEN install Apache 2?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If Apache 1 is disabled, then it's not that running on port 80. However, there may be another service which is binding itself to that port. Are you sure you haven't got IIS running, for example?

If you open a browser window and go to [127.0.0.1...] do you get anything?

Ok, I used Ad-aware and I think it might have been a virus connecting using port 80. After getting rid of it, Apache 2 worked perfectly.

I'm not sure how I set up PHP and MySQL, but if I download and install phptriad with Apache 1, will Apache 2 be able to use this? If not, is there a version of phptriad with Apache 2.0? If so, where is that found?

Thanks for the help.
