I don't know if this is on the correct forum but here it goes ...

I am trying to password protect a directory on the test server using Apache over win2k and using its htpasswd feature and it seems not to be working. I did all the steps correctly (yes double checked many many times).

is the MD5 of Win2k different? during the creation of password, it says using win2k MD5 ...

If you're using Apache 2.0.39, there's a bug that MAY be related. Here [apache.secsup.org] are some details and a patch.
