i set up a dev server on RH 7.2 with apache 1.3.27. i access it over a network from my win2k pc to test sites i am currently working on. it has an almost identical setup to our production server.

when i surf the pages from the local redhat box everything is very quick. however sometimes when i am browsing pages with win2k the page load hangs on a graphic (any old one) and won't finish loading. ctrl + f5 normally does the trick, but sometimes i have to reload the page 3 or 4 times before the page finishes loading.

* i have checked all my logs and it is not an apache error.
* it only happens sometimes.
* the network otherwise is very quick
* the same identical site on our production server does not have these problems

can anyone suggest the reason why certain graphics are hanging locally?

thanks :)

Hi jamie,

Hopefully, someone here can offer a few things to look for...

thanks jim :-)

it's not mission critical, just for my dev server, i was simply interested as to why - at the end of the day it might be a dodgy network card as much as anything :-)

thanks for the bump!
