[I've been using a freeware friendly-URL creator] to make urls with variables and php look like static html pages. I guess everybody knows about this thoough.
well thing is.. I set it up.. and hit on a link that has been defined in .htaccess, but I get a 404. no matter what I do.
mod_rewrite is loaded in my host's apache server.
Is there anything I'm missing here?
ps: I followed the instructions from that link perfectly.

I would suggest that you contact the maker of that freeware, or ask on their forums about this problem. Unfortunately, it looks like no one else here has used it or knows the answer to your question.
