I have a problem where I can access a site all day without problems yet as soon as I try to access a non-existant page, all access to the site freezes. I'm on a dial up connection so I disconnect then reconnect to resolve the problem but there must be a better way.

This is both on IE and on Opera. (haven't tried Netscape)

Header check returning 200 so that is OK.

HTTP Status Code: HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Thu, 18 Mar 2004 00:50:55 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.27 OpenSSL/0.9.7 (Unix) PHP/4.3.4 AuthMySQL/2.20 mod_gzip/1.3.19.2a
X-Powered-By: PHP/4.3.4
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html

Ping returns RTT: 356ms, TTL: 48

Is there anything else I can check and look for to resolve this without reconnecting?

Regards, Jaze

It sounds as if your server's 404 error configuration is incorrect or incomplete. Bring this problem to the server admin's attention.
