Apache Log Rotation - Cronolog?

Hi. I have a OpenBSD v3.3 i386 with Apache v1.3.27. I would like to rotate my logs files based on year, month and date. I was thinking of having the broken down by the year into a directory (ex. /var/wwww/logs/2004). The log file name for example would be 02-19_access_log.

Now I found what I thought would be the good solution and easiest is using Cronolog. I have it working manually but I can no get it to work via Apache configuration file. On a OpenBSD system the httpd daemon is run as www user Not root. I've checked permissions to cronolog and directories. They seem fine. Also I have Apache running in a non-chrooted environment, so that's not the issue either.

Does anyone have any idea what direction I could take to solve this? Maybe I should be posting this into the Unix/Linux discussion area I'm not sure.
