There is not a major google update right?
Every time I hear someone in WW mention "Google Update" I immediately check RankPulse to see if there has been any spike in rankings.
There hasn't been so you can discount that theory. Doesn't mean that the normal fluctuations may not have affected your site.
World Total 605.60 million
Africa 6.31 million
Asia/Pacific 187.24 million
Europe 190.91 million
Middle East 5.12 million
Canada & USA 182.67 million
Latin America 33.35 million
However the figures for 2004 estimate as follows:
English 287.5 million 35.8%
Non-English 516.7 million 64.2%
My point?
Stop believing it is a North American effect/event which is influencing your earnings etc. There's a whole world of traffic out there which many of us are not even exploiting as yet.

Ahh, but it IS an American effect for many of us. My logs show an overwhelming majority of my sites' traffic comes from the USA. Stands to reason that when America is experiencing anything that might keep folks away from their computers, my stats will take a hit. Happens like clockwork on Labor Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, etc.

And so do mine however I do not believe them simply because so many ISPs use com/net/org/biz/info and many businesses likewise.
I have tried to find out whether I am correct about this since I have huge volumes of traffic from China, India, The Middle East and Europe and my logs keep trying to convince me that 90% of my traffic is from the USA when I know it is blatantly incorrect.
On major US holidays I do not see a dramatic fall in earnings, certainly I see a reduction in traffic but nothing worse than a weekend.

Sorry...this should have read:
Stop believing it is simply a North American effect/event which is influencing your earnings etc.
I do know many US webmasters who block visitors from outside the USA...their decision, not mine!
I don't have time to get into a discussion about this since I have to leave now on business to Italy until next Sunday:-)
Incidentally I just found these statistics as a percentage of world users 23rd July 2005:
Asia 1.7%
Africa 34.5%
Europe 28.7%
Middle East 2.3%
N America 23.8%
Latin America/Carribean 7.3%
Oceania/Australia 1.8%
If you would like a link to this let me know however bear in mind I'm away..........
