Just had to tell someone.

I usually average 40 - 50 people on on website at any given time. Not bad.

But today over 200 at any given time for most of the day. Wow, I am not sure where its coming from yet. But is not any kind of attack. People are downloading files and such.

Last time this happened. Mancow mentioned my site on his radio show. I could only hope that its happening again.

:) :) :0 :)

Sounds very good, so congrats!
Keep up the good work with your website and perhaps a 1000 people will be on your website on any given time!

Me, too. All this week, traffic is up 50% at one of my sites (and edging up at two others), without my having made any significant changes.

At the WW Google Search News forum, there's buzz again about a major SERPs update happening, or being about to happen.

There is definately a storm brewing. There are some odd things going on in the SERPS. Batten your hatches.

How do you make spiders come to your site more often?

Submitting to ODP's?

"Train" them to come by more often by adding new, original content regularly. I shoot for a couple of times per week per site. After a while, those spiders will visit a lot, like every day and sometimes multiple times per day.

Hey Roadkill, here's hoping the traffic sticks around and brings friends!

Thanks everybody... it is exciting to have an abrupt change and in the positive direction. I'm certain it is not totally by chance. I do work the website along with a full time business. So it’s hard work now. Fun, but still work.

I add content at least weekly. I have done a banner exchange. (not all that and chips). I have also perused link exchanges with websites that I thought were relevant to each other. But these actions would not explain the 5X jump that was instantaneous in this case.

I hope to find the answer in the next couple of days. Which in some situations could be difficult. If the access is through direct entry, you don't know how they got the address.
