I've been working on a new site for a while... mostly getting the concept and design together. Im at a stage that most pages are created but I've still to add the actual content. It basically a skeleton.
My question - is it worth while putting up what I have and getting a few inbound links? I'll be adding the content gradualy over the next 2-3 weeks when it'll hopefully be completed.
The reason I ask is - if google update the toolbar PR in a month or so, I would like to get some green this time around and not wait for 3-4 months for it. I know it doesnt mean much these days as the real pr will be the same regardless of the TBPR. But I hope to get some people to link to my site (link exchanges), which almost always required some green in the old toolbar.
And to relate my question to Adsense - When do you think is the best time to place the google ads? when the site is totally complete, or wait longer until the traffic really starts?
Im really looking to see if letting google index a skeleton site is good, bad or indifferent. I would hate to risk getting penalised for the sake of a few weeks. Anyone have any experience with this?
Cheers,

In my experience, Yahoo and MSN spider the site first... and then they don't come back for awhile. So you are in their serps as a skeleton, which is not going to give you good rankings, unless it's unique.
If it's a new URL, it may take Google a couple of weeks to find it, because Google follows links.
So depending on how much you value the traffic from Yahoo and MSN (which you may need while you're in the sandbox) should determine what you do, and he could be right about adding Adsense now, because it may take the mediabot 2 weeks to come around.
