Different targeting depending on use or not "/index.html"

My site is indexed without the "/index.html"

In a new website I'm launching, I have detected the following problems.
When I land on the main page with "www.example.com", it shows out of target ads.
However, if I land like "www.example.com/index.html", it works a lot better showing high quality targeted ads.
I checked and my site is indexed without the "index.html" if I do "site:example.com" ...
Does anybody has experimented this?

No, I haven't heard of this.

The problem I was having, was my www showed ads, and the nonwww was showing PSA's, so I applied a redirect to the www. Problem solved. This was last March.

Ive had this problem, and still have it to some degree. Google sees / and /index.html as two different URLs, and thus analyses them separately. If they remain the same, in theory the ads served should be the same, as the mediabot would have identical copies for each url.

In pracatice however, it seems to be quite different. I think it may have to do with the way google keeps a history of ads clicked and amount earned per channel - and thus /index.html may be less "mature" than / because it gets less impressions. And thus google is able to serve up more successful ads for the more 'mature'/broken in/ url.

Just because they aren't well targeted doesnt mean theyre not better for you (in googles eyes) - its likely they were chosen based on past history and amount earned/clicked etc.
