Domain Pointer forwarding results are often only PSA's

We have many domain names using so called server based "domain pointers" which "mask forward" the domain traffic to one of our developed websites (always the same kind of keyword/category site).

If we go to the domain pointer URL the Adsense on the active site is often only PSA ads. However, if we go direct to the active site url the PSA's are rarely there.

Of course this results in a loss of income, especially where the domain pointer url has a good percentage of the active website overall traffic (as some do).

Anyone else notice this and why would G do this? Also, anyway to avoid this from happening? Thanks.

instead of masking your domain, just forward to the active domain. my guess is, there is no content on the pointer domains...

In order to completely avoid any problems, switch to a multidomain hosting provider and give that real server space which your domain names are begging for. Number of pages, number of links from SERPs, adsense revenue will all go up.

Careful - domain masking is done with a 100% frame enclosing the "real" website. Have a look at the source when you visit using a masked domain. I assume you haven't chosen the frames option in the AdSense setup, which may well be causing problems.

As loganz says, you should redirect (301) your extra domain names, not use masking - this should fix your frame problems and helping with ranking too.

Already tried server redirect plus htaccess forwarding to index page to catch error traffic but the problem is I lose all the wildcard subdomain traffic (lose it with domain pointers too).

I do not know the wildcard names. Some old sites have many wildcard subdoamins setup by the old domain owners.
