When I came back from Gay Parade, which is held in Vancouver, BC today, I checked my adsense, and guess what?!? I got over 80 clicks! The traffic was not significantly higher than before. This is not good! I have a feeling that somebody attacked me! I smell something bad here!

I have never gotten so many clicks by 2pm! Never! Something is definitely not good and I am not happy about it.

Have you ever experience such a huge spike in CTR while your traffic remained about the same? What do you think - should I contact Google immediately, or should I maybe stop panicing and forget about it?

You're worried about 80 clicks?
How many do you normally get a day, 2?

I get well over 1,000/day - wouldn't even notice an extra 80

If you're worried write to Google, it wouldn't hurt.

Could be a click dump... last day of the month and all. I had one last week (think it was Wednesday). It can't hurt to alert Google, but it's very likely nothing to worry over.

My clicks are still rising, although at a slower rate.

Well Bill, I never said I was a millionaire like you. :) I only make around $500 a month. My average daily click rate is about 30.

Thank you. Now I feel better. Hopefully everything turns out to be okay. Shuuush..... :)

Dantol: do you have a stat counter on your site pages? That would give you the IP addresses and also tell you the visitor paths. That way, you know WHO went WHERE and for how many seconds they were on x page. There is a free stat counter that you can place on every page if you wish. It also has an IP lookup. About the 80 clicks, I frankly think that if someone were actually attacking your AdSense ads, they would have clicked a lot more times than only 80. Maybe your site is moving forward in the SERPS. That is a good thing to check. My number of clicks is different every day. Did you have any timely news on your site? Maybe people were looking at that...
I have to work to pull up my weekend CTR. But my clicks are up and then down from day to day. Only large amounts before a big gift-giving day. My site is affiliate gifts. Trying to widen it to other more general interest topics as well... Take it easy and probably there is actually a GOOD POSITIVE reason for your extra clicks...

my clicks are up and down like a tartīs knickers but itīs never caused by a "sabotage" attack...some ads are just more appealing than others i guess.

i use adfreestats to monitor the IPs of adsense clickers.

I'm also seeing a higher-than-usual clickthrough rate today. CTR is up about 35%. (That's +35% of the normal clickthrough rate, not 35 percentage points!)

miguelito, I am not sure who are you quoting, I did not say that.

Roadhazard, I do have webstats. They are somewhat too basic. I will install better stats on my site.

When I came back from Straight Parade

Good for you. Did you meet any conservative church going ladies down there? *lol* yawn... :)

Maybe I overreacted. Maybe it's just month-end thing. Up until now, I did get close to 200 clicks (which is much higher than usual).

Thank you for your advice guys! Sorry for mentioning Gay Parade in Adsense forum - I am just TOO PROUD of my liberal city and liberal country that values human rights to the fullest! Cheers and peace!

Here was a rainy Sunday over the main German speaking area.

This combination brought 20% higher CTR than the monthly average.

This menas monthly average CTR% * 1,2.

Sorry for mentioning Gay Parade in Adsense forum

I think that people are reading your post and wondering what relevance there is in the fact that you "just got back from the gay parade". That has got nothing to do with your problem so why introduce it?

Hidden agenda ...?

My earnings were double today than they were the last two days, but then again I did a newsletter mailout last night.

I started adsense Saturday July 23rd... broke $100 in total earnings by the morning of Sunday the 31st. Its a start, I suppose.
