Stumped. Does google offer paid optimization services? Any advice on getting them interested in optimizing my site?

With these clicks all I can do is by kleenex to wipe away my tears.
Sometimes I get all my ads showing up when I hit my main page. Sometimes I get all blanks.
This is seemingly random... There's plenty of text and content on the page to work with for google to spider and the page is updated at least a handful of times a day, so I can't figure this out. Whats wierder is that they will show up, wont show up, I wont update or change anything, then I come back ten minutes later and they show up again.
Any ideas what might cause this behavior?
I'm wondering if these blank ads are counting as impressions on my stats and lots and lots of people are encountering them? It's really quite random though...
Oddly enough this only happens on my root page, not on any sub pages.
They've been promoting it at the top of the REPORTS page for weeks now, you should write to them.
Sticky me three - I'm half way to the UPS club and for 20,000 visitors/day you should be breaking $100/day easily unless you just don't have the right ads or it's the wrong type of traffic. Something should be able to be done.
I hope this is not fluke.
Yesterday, pushed 148,000 ads, got 50 clicks and made about $8.00. This is actually above average for the site - the average over the last seven days was $7.00 and the average for the month is $5/day. (Course, I just launched on June 3, so our first few days were pretty small potaters)
Around midnight last night I made three changes:
(1) I moved out top ad bar a little closer to the navigation bar, not much, but a little.
(2) I removed the border around the google ads so they aren't quite as obvious.
(3) I matched google's link color to our link color.
Today, so far, as of 8:30 AM PDT, google is showing:
62,000 ad impressions
38 clicks.
$8 today so far.
A bit more info : Yesterday I had 26,000 visitors. (A record) Today so far I have 13,000. Looks to be a similar day in terms of traffic.
I am just jumping up and down everywhere here in joy. I know this is pathetic for most of you (people talking about making $100 by breakfast), but to have made $8 before noon is way way way off course for the site. I'm jumping giddy at the idea of pulling off a $15 day, maybe even $20.
Google still needs more content on teh subpages to work with, so I'm thinking the next step is going to be the following:

[random "blog entry" pulled from main page blog which includes quite a bit of text and, hopefully, keeps people on the site]
I'm thinking of pulling our huge top banner - it's not really doing anything for us and possibly going the following route:

Don't spose you have some sample .NET code...
or did you mean more like

Many people click off to something new while having a certain ad in mind on a page and assume they can get back to it....
i have found that with MY visitors - they like the static.
I've also set an all-time record today (granted, with a 25 day old site thats not saying much, but still) thats nearly twice my best previous day.
This still only equates to a free starbucks coffee and a free lunch a day, but hey, who knows where I'll be in year in six months! :)

Do you mean like email spam? If so, the answer is no. I've never sent an email. Its a waste of time.
The site basically works on user submitted content - so our traffic comes from users sending their content urls to friends. This means links tend to come from other dynamic or frequently changing content... - i.e. forums, livejournals and other blogs, quite a few game related sites (dont know why), quite a few hits seem to be missing a referrer so I'm guessing these are coming from links being passed on in some kind of chat.
Frankly, its coming from everywhere... I've got roughly 1500 ref. in my logs right now.
If I've misunderstood your question, I apologize - but no - I dont spam yahoo chat rooms, or hop on newsgroups and spam, or email spam in any way shape or form (that means none at all, ever), or aim spam, or irc spam, or any other kind of spam.
If you think my assumption is wrong, then go ahead and prove otherwise.
Anyway, glad to hear of the succes with your site Infect, I hope I can get that kind of traffic one day.
One of my site gets 15K visitors/day and many impressions but hardly anyone clicks. The rule is simple, if visitors wont get bored of your site or they find the needed content then in that case they wont click the ads. I was making $3 with 75K+ impressions.. So I've taken down adsense from that site and other CPM advertising pay me better.
In past I've made good money from adsense not anymore.
Can you mix google and CPM? (or is that against the TOS?)
Anyway, I thought I'd update with the final results from yesterday...
20,000 visitors
180,000 ad impressions
roughly 60,000 pages
110+ clicks
record number of clicks in a day
recrod number of ad impressions
not a record visitor count
not a record page count
record profit in a day, twice my best day ever
record profit roughly five times my daily average
Today so far, expirimentin a minor change (removed one ad that never got clicked anyway, to see what that does)
13,000 impressions
12 clicks.
Already at my "old" daily average before the changes but a little lower than where I was in $ yesterday at 9.30 AM CST.
You still failed to answer where do you get your traffic from. 140,000 impressions and only 36 clicks (CTR of 0.02%) can't be anything else but spam traffic. If you think my assumption is wrong, then go ahead and prove otherwise.
I also want to drop a note on this.
If anyone is so willing to bash like that, could you please wait until the "I got booted from Adsense" post arrives?
In regard to the pseudo-code above, I was thinking more along the lines of your first example. I'm not sure how you're displaying your content, but if you're extracting it from an mssql table and looping through an array, you can just roll a die at different stages of the loop. If true, then display ad, else display content.
"25 day old site" could NOT provide such traffic.
I know ways to make couple thousands visitors a day
of really sh!ty traffic in very short time scale
(legally :) and almost free)
But:
1. I really would expect extremely low CTR.
2. Extremely low EPC
As well - this traffic could be generated
pop-up or pop-under which is also only
stupid numbers in your statistics - they will not generate ANY clicks at all (as well as big G will not like it very much).
According to my Adsense reports, I'm averaging about 25,000 impressions and 28 clicks per day for a CTR of 0.1%
And if there is a URL being passed around with a tip/technique...I want in! Sticky me, too! I'm willing to try anything...
