Today I passed a Adsense milestone by getting more than a dollars worth of clicks ;~) My site sells its own products within a very narrow niche, even though I'm #1 -#4 for all of my keywords I get fewer than 5000 uniques a month. I've put adsense on a few of my pages just to see how this pans out and trying to hit my big goal of $5.00 per day ;~) Definitely not at the "Rfung" levelof $300.00 per day, but fun to play about with.
With 5000 unique users a month, let's do calculation:
5000 unique users x (at least) 5 page views per each user = 25,000 page views per month.
Let's assume that you CTR is at least 3% (probably, it would be much higher).
Now 25,000 page views x (at least) 3% = 750 clicks. Usually, you would get at least 20 cents per click.
Now, 750 clicks x .20 = (at least) $150.
Not much, but at least it's something.

I've only put adsense on information and article pages without product or services. As a test run I put adsense on a product page, which served up all my competiton's ads ;~)The clicks were in the 10% range, but yielded less than the product I was selling so I removed them.
With regards to placement on your product pages, I'd say go for it. We were in AdSense for 18 months and it was forbidden on our product pages. Finally, I was able to argue (and persuade) that we had lots of one hit wonders... people who would view one or two pages then leave. My argument went like this, "If we haven't made a good impression on that visitor, then let's get a nickle from thier exit." As soon as we did that the pennies/day turned into dollars/day. Also, I went thru and added some URLs to the Competitive Filter. Not all of them. I still have ads that are directly competitive, but I try to choose my competitors carefully.
Also, AdSense is still not on every product page. I want my visitors to focus on my products on those pages, not on my competitors ads.
I average 11 cents per click... cpc changes from theme to theme, keyword to keyword, and advertiser to advertiser.. tough to compare among sites.
I'd say with 25k page views, $90-$120/month would be about right, unless you're in a high paying keyword category.
your estimation is very inaccurate.
I have an average of 7500 unique visitors per month.
680 clicks , average click make me $0.15......
Basically, I dont endup with a lot of money.$300 a month , I would say the reality is more like $80 or $70 a month with 5000 unique visitors in a niche market. This is what I made when I had 5000 visitors. 2 affiliate sales in one day make me one month of Adsense .
