Have you experimented with other Adsense Languages?

I have the opportunity to have one of my sites translated into Chinese. It sounds like a logical move (with the Chinese market being so massive) however I'm wondering what issues others might have found with experimenting with other languages than English.

Some questions I'm pondering:

- are click values similar to those of English ads for an equivalent topic?
- are there as many ads in Google's ad stock?

Any relevant experiences or insight that people have would be greatly appreciated - I guess I'm just trying to work out whether it makes business sense to layout the money to get the translation done.

I, like several publishers here, do everything we can to prevent our ads from displaying on chinese sites.

Why? Care to explain?

Generally they will be lower. Chinese people earn less so you can't expect the same EPC as for American or Western European users.

I recently read on this board that Google even lowered the minimum bid per click to 2 cents (or 3 cents?) for Chinese advertisers.

Burntan,

The reason for excluding chinese sites is that I haven't come across one that was legitimate (in my niche). I have had several of them removed from adsense for invalid clicks and therefore it just isn't worth dealing with them. (I have a hard time reading them too :)

- absolutely not
- no

I have sites in English, French, German and Spanish.

Spanish is the worst, in terms of Adsense of the 4. I would presume that Chinese is worse than Spanish.

Interesting - thanks for the advice.

That was my suspicion. Whilst a lot of Chinese search for information on my topic its never going to have a high epc.

Might not be worth the translation costs.

What I understand is that only Chinese ads will appear in Chinese pages. so, if you ads is in English, then I don't think you need to worry much about your ads appear in Chinese pages site.

If Chinese really wanted to cheat, I think they will create English site and target for high pay English keywords.
