Page Impressions:Ad impressions
1 May 1:1.18
2 May 1:1.16
3 May 1:1.17
4 May 1:1.22
5 May 1:2.00

As Google introduced the new feature ad impressions and page impressions, I wondered about the low ratio between the counts.

I expected more a ratio of 1:2

Exactly like it's now.

I distribute my ads by software automatic dependign of empty space below the menus and in a few cases one additional ad in the contence area.

So there are between 1 and 3 + AdLink on my pages.

I noticed the same thing... Page impression to ad impression seems to be fixed. I could never figure out how it was calculating. We run one sky scraper ad unit with ad links. I could never figure out what the ratio was. Something seems to have definately change today.

I checked with my log files.

Calculating half an hour delay,
the page impression count matches exactly
my own page view statistic with activated javascript.

It could be, that more than 1 ad block on a page was before counted correct or multiple at the page impressions.

It seems, that this problem is fixed now.

I thinked they fixed the case where they were counting adlink impressions as page impressions. Our page impression count looks correct now.

Page Impressions are correct since today. I have checked them in the past daily with my logstats.
What I could find out was the following:

If you have had adsence and adlink on the same page, the page impressions counted twice.

Maybe the delay in stats yesterday is related to it.

If you have had adsence and adlink on the same page, the page impressions counted twice.

I have 3387 pages with 2706 adlinks on it.

When each page is one time viewed, this should be according to Your theory

3387+2706=6093 before
3387 after

This matches good my statistics above.

here is me for may

Actual Page Impression -- Ad sense Impressions
1/5 --- 5,251 --- 7,737
2/5 --- 7,375 --- 10,744
3/5 --- 8,349 --- 11,526
4/5 --- 8,191 --- 10,864
5/5 --- 7,599 --- 4,853
6/5 --- 5,340 --- 3,397

May well relate to the add-links one being counted twice.

I can confirm the observation. I have 1, 2 or 3 AdSense units on each page, and 1 Ad Links unit on each. Here are the last 14 days' ratios of "Ad Unit impressions" to "Page impressions":

1.32
1.32
1.32
1.32
1.34
1.32
1.33
1.33
1.31
1.33
1.38
2.17
2.18

This is because the "Page Impressions" has plummeted by a third in the last two days, but the "Ad Unit impressions" (and earnings!) have stayed constant. It makes historical analysis a bit redundant now. Mind you, the revised CTR when viewing by "Page Impressions" is incredibly impressive!

Just noticed this myself, although it looks like it took effect late Wednesday the 4th. I had always wondered why ad impressions were only higher than page impressions by like 3%, when there were 2 ads on each page!

Also makes the CTR and CPMs look much more impressive, although I guess I won't be joining the 20,000,000+ club as quickly as I had hoped! :-)
