The result? Looking at the graph shows I'm 10% up so far this month. The attribution? Reading WebmasterWorld.
I hear it makes you a better lover too.
For example, in my country we use a comma instead of a decimal point, and the date format is different also. When I open the CSV in Excel, the dates are messed up and I have to replace the dots with periods.

P.S. Okay, I found that if I save the file to disk first, and then open it, I can tell Excel what the decimal separator and date format is. That's for the other's who were having problems with formats :)
All i am saying is that there is a reason why most older men with money die bitter and alone.
On top, makes my competitors happy too ;-)
We all win!
Seriously, guys and gals, take 30 minutes out of your busy lives tonight, right away and invest them into your future. Pop the one most important question to your spouse and another to you:
"Honey, can we very, very seriously and honstly talk and feel about the impact of what I am doing on us?!"
"What do I want to find as my biggest treasure when I would leave this planet tomorrow..."
best wishes
congrats on your willingness to do what you need to in your marriage- successful marriage requires sacrifice.
for myself, I am fortunate in this respect in that I married a workaholic :-) we enjoy sharing updates about our work, and respect each other's talents and achievements, along with all the affection-
but to balance out your rationale:
* obviously you can work hard, not smart
* and certainly running sites successfully has become more complicated
* but the web still represents a huge field of opportunity that was never there before, especially for those with the skills and talents it requires
* and to fulfill that american/capitalistic dream of freedom and achievement takes a lot of work
For me, the alternative would be simply to settle down into a 'normal' job and hope that the economy favors it.
But it seems the forces of economic globalization cannot be resisted- and the only thing Americans can hope to succeed with in the future is our education/intelligence/brains- which we are uniquely positioned to develop and use. Our pride and history will prevent us from lowering our salaries to do unskilled work.
So how could the job of running and creating websites, (properly moderated with family and community participation, spirituality, etc.), not be the best job?
The only thing that people need to worry about in my opinion is the extended period of time in which you are exposed to a computer system versus human interaction.
This is speaking from personal experiance.
I allowed myself all of life to befriend machine over man, and while it seemed beneficial interacting with an entity which could not truly hurt me unless i "programed" it to, it in fact became an obessive hole in which i dwelt.... I seriously became bitter and because of that frightened by fellow human interaction.
think for a minute how many people you know that are computer savvy that have a diffcult time talking to other people.
We will have the most experiance, therfore creating a pillow to excel over those that arent as equally experianced.
Sniff the coffee website!
You're very much mistaken if you consider that the USA, or Americans, are the "only" innovators and people who understand programming and what's happening.
I bet if a poll were taken of posters and visitors here that less than half are Americans or residing in the USA, probably a lot less.
Complacency is a sure-fireway of learning the reality.

Absolutely none that I know of...we're all 10+ year programmers and web developers and meet 3+ times per week for beers and technical talk, and yes, the women not only join in, they're programming too!
Good ale, lager for those who must, and £1.50 pint:-)
While i realize this has turned into an entirely new thread, this is just a snipit of info alot of you guys might think about.
I end with the immortal words of Darth Vader (from the end of Empire Strikes Back):
"Search your feelings, you know it to be true"
