Ok, actually I dont have one at the moment, but if I did, she'd be seeing me more in front of the computer than looking at her. Unless she's unbe-f-livingly hot, and she can quote my adsense numbers in a sultry sensual voice. A guy can dream right?

Seriously now - if you're doing this full time, does it ever nag your mind that maybe its taking over much of your time, and, what's worse, you don't even care and you enjoy it? First thing I do when I wake is check stats. Last thing I do before I go to bed is check stats. I check stats a bunch times more during the day. And then again. Somedays I spend more time checking stats than working. Days go by sometimes when I don't talk to a living soul, except when I'm chatting, which lately is with other webmasters, so websites again.

All I think about is websites, new ideas, tweaking current sites, dreaming big. Mind you, I don't do nearly as much work as I do thinking.

Is there a point when spending your whole day living, breathing websites becomes unhealthy? I go workout and I go to the movies and talk on the phone and go out, but those are breaks on me thinking about websites. After I'm done, it's back checking stats...

If i were to describe this to anyone simply as a behavior, it sure sounds like an addiction :). Is Adsense/AM addicting?

Adsense Anonymous, anyone?

To really understand the extent of your addiction, you should go through what I am going through...

Most of my income come from a few .it domains. Around 16:00 friday the server that hosted them went down and the [insert your preferred derogatory term] ISP has not been able to set it up again.

I would have transferred it to another hosting, but changing the registrar for an .it domain requires a fax to be sent to the italian equivalent of the NIC.

So, no week-end transfers, and probably my fax has not been even looked ....

I want my Adsense back!

count me in.

What's worse than the addiction is the mood-swings. Last month Adsense and I were chugging along at a feverish pace - I spontaneously took the wife to dinner at expensive restaurants, dreamed about moving to the ocean - all the manic parts of manic-depression.

This month started badly - in the first few days Adsense has been down 30% from my daily average last month. I was irrational over the weekend - "We can't afford a baby sitter! Who left the lights on? How many sheets of TP are we using a day?!"

I'm sure there's a balance out there for me someplace -perhaps one day I'll find it ...

Its the same as any other business there will be up and then down days and the owners go through similar emotions.

It's the greatest strategic computer game ever!

I liked always strategic games.
More complicate is better.

Winning level "hideous" withoug loosing one single ship 1989 at SSI "A stellar crusade"

Autumn 1996 catched me a new strategic game. Conquering top positions for as much search terms related to my themes as possible in Altavista.

June 2004 arrived at me the best strategic game ever.
Publisher!

CMS Content management software
SEO Search engine optimization
Content creation
Making photos

It's not only the best strategic game, it's also the first one bringing me money.

I was a big fan of computer games, and I do actually think of publishing as one big game. Honestly, I take the same ammount of enjoyment out of making my site as I did grinding in MMORPGS, and I did that for a year. Now I'm trying to put that dedication into my new game of publishing and I hope to be earning a decent living within a few months.

Let's put it this way: There are a TON of great ways to waste your time on the Internet. Checking too often to see how much money you're earning, and hanging out on a message board where people often discuss how to improve their earnings--well, it is far from the worst way to spend your time!

My obsessive stats-checking and posting (and lurking) on Webmaster World is a big step up compared to how I *used* to kill time on the Internet.

LOL! zulufox,

<snip>.com anyone?
<snip>.com anyone?

How many of those do you have in your list?

I see the first one got registered already, but the second one sounds too spamy .. however ... just 2 out of the 4 words looks like a nice domain ;-)
