actually sorted it into my junk pile of mail that I look at after I read my important mail.
Same here. It was in Saturday's mail, opened all the 'important' stuff and this got shoved aside until this morning. Could easily have gone out with the trash.
Now, the real difference: Not mailed from California but Buffalo, NY. Got here real fast in 1 day (I'm in NYC). Are all checks now being mailed from Buffalo, or is Google now using contractors in different regions to mail checks from closer to home?

Ever notice how G, no matter how much information it thinks it puts out, always misses that one small piece that might be important to many publishers?

I got mine too. The envelope is a lot different. I didn't even know it was my check. There is no indication it's from Google. The only writing on the envelope is a PO Box return address. I actually sorted it into my junk pile of mail that I look at after I read my important mail.
Could you please tell more about the envelope.More details like color of the envolope etc will help. This will help to recognise the most important mail easily. Otherwise I may think that it is trash and throw it away.

Interestingly, I signed up for EFT, and when I first checked the payment page, it said type: "EFT". I looked at my bank account and saw nothing. Then the next time I looked it had changed to type: "Check"
No email, nothing. Wondering if anyone esle saw the same thing, or have I lost it? (or both)

I saw the same thing with my account. The payment originally showed "EFT" and then was changed to "Check" the next day.
What on earth is this good for?"
arrowman,
Indianads asked me in an earlier post to describe what the envelope looked like. Maybe he thought he throw it away not realising it was a check, or may have had another reason for asking. Regardless I do not think that answering another members direct question could ever be considered trivial.
But when I saw 'Buffalo' I knew it must be the check. Absolutely identical to average junk mail.
I'm glad for this forum!
It looks about the same size and style as the bills from UPS come in.
What's interesting to me is that the checks were received in New York and Northern California (all the way across the US) on the same exact date.
I'm glad EFT is here, but this is a big improvement over prior months delivery times.
This forum is getting more trivial by the day :-/What on earth is this good for?
"I received my check" threads usually are trivial. But three important things come out in this one:
1) Google changed its payment mechanism; checks appear to be arriving sooner;
2) Publishers were alerted not to throw out that "junk mail" with a no-name return address from Buffalo; and,
3) Google forgot to tell publishers about the changes.
