Google EFT should take a few lessons from paypal

With the EFT's beginning to trickle through, I am getting second thoughts about whether or not I typed my routing number and account number in correctly. I checked and double checked it.. but of course I am only human. And since google doesn't actually show you your account number on the "My account" page... just a bunch of stars and not even a few identifiable numbers. If google was serious about this undertaking, they probably should have taken a lesson from paypal and make 2 small deposits (<$0.25) into our accounts so that we could verify the account. Yeah, It would probably cost them somewhere less than $10,000, but it would save a lot of pain and suffering from tracking down incorrect account info and doing reversals in the long run i think.

Where do you see any evidence of EFT's actually beginning to trickle through?

From what I understand (and was told by Google), they wouldn't be actually doing the first EFT run until next month.

winglian - I agree - this is a major suggestion. Such verification would yield enormous benefits for all involved.

Talking about belgian bank account numbers (but I think others may work with the same system). When you enter a bank account nr and you mistake one figure, the whole nr is wrong. So if G. sends money to a 'wrong' nr. it will bounce back. It will never end in some other account. So what's the problem...
(123-1234567-12 is the system of be bank nrs, first 3 are bak id, first3 + next 7 dividet by 97 gives last 2 as 'rest')

well, i am in the US and i used to have two checking accounts at the same bank. I signed up for them on the same day and the difference in the two account numbers was 3. Given that one ended in a 401 and the other a 398, I am sure there might be other valid accounts where there could be only a difference by a single digit.

http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum89/5811.htm

That thread doesn't mention anybody actually getting an EFT payment.

It just notes that Google may have incorrectly labeled the payment type as EFT for this payment for those that selected EFT for future payments.

As far as I know, EFT is still supposed to start next month.

I agree though, it would be nice to be able to check what you entered without having to enter it again.

If I change it now to double check, does that mean that my EFT will get pushed back another month because I didn't enter it on time?

I had a EFT setup with a different company (not a ad affiliate thing) and they had the same problem, where they were too secure about the account numbers being seen as to blanking out everything.
Ofcourse, since I work for a bank, I just had one of my bankers (since you can't touch your own accounts-bank policy) check out my account and see if theres any active EFTs set up for it.
Depending on which bank you have, you might be able to walk in and have one of the bankers see if theres anything set up to your account.

It started this month if you submitted your bank info by the 15th.

I got my EFT payment on Friday, March 25th.

efv, did you actually get it in your bank, or just the notice of it on your Adsense account page. ASA has confirmed (message 21) in the other thread that the EFT is only present on the payments page because thats what we are signed up for, not because thats what we are getting this month. I too signed up prior to the 15th but I do not expect it except by mail.

Yes, it showed up promptly at my bank.

Guess: perhaps the difference between your two account numbers is actually one. The "real" account numbers might be ...39 and ...40. The 1 and the 8 might then be check digits calculated from the other digits.

That said, I agree with everyone else in this thread that not having any way to check your details is worrying.
