Mediapartners bot on pages without AdSense

I have been looking at the behaviour of the Mediapartners Google bot - we need a snappier name, AdSenseBot? - and I've noticed it pulls some pages that dont contain any ads.

I've been very careful to make sure that AdSense is not on search results on my site, but AdSenseBot picked up 55 search pages yesterday (out of over 7000 displayed by my visitors).

There have also been some AdSenseBot hits on my other domains that have never contained any AdSense ads anywhere.

Is anyone else seeing this sort of thing? I figure it must be related to the clients hitting my sites in some way - perhaps related to the Toolbar or something? I am just nervous that Google will see their bot going to search pages and drop me!

The adsense bot or one similarly named visited my website prior to adsense. I believe is also used if you have used the google campaigns in Tribalfusion, Burst or Fastclick.

If you are in any of those networks or another ad network that served Google campaigns ... that must be the reason.

That is a good theory, but I was only with Advertising.com - who as far as i am aware were never showing such ads, perhaps they were and i didn't realise though!

Yes I have got the mediapartners bot crawling pages, very minor, obscure pages, that I would never put any advertising on.

I have never been a member of any other advertising network.

What is it up to?
